WHY IS YOUR KING ON A CROSS?

WHY IS YOUR KING ON A CROSS?

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. ...” These are the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”. He could not remain comfortable in Atlanta and fight injustice. He had to ascend the cross of injustice before he could obtain the crown of freedom. He knew that his King, Jesus, died on a cross of injustice and humiliation for the salvation of all. Dr. King imitated the Word of God and the Creator of the universe. He knew why his King was on a cross.

The St. Maria Goretti School of Religion celebrated its 9th annual Living Rosary on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 11:00am in the Msgr. Gauthreaux Center. Students from grades 1 through 11 participated by forming the outline of a Rosary. Each held a white rose to represent one of the beads/prayers. As the student said the prayer which he or she represented, he/she held up his/her white rose.

Parents and friends of the students were invited to attend and joined in praying the Rosary. Each participant received a pamphlet on How To Say The Rosary.

Hi Ms Laurelee and all the Kids,

Thank you all very much for the kindness you have shown to us here in Uganda. I am deeply touched by your generosity which is always consistent. I received the $125 today and have decided to use it to buy seeds for corn to be grown in the school farm. I hope I can send you all the pictures when they grow.

Kindly send my regards to all who participated in the bake sale and those who bought to support the cause. You have constantly been my help and I am indebted to you for this. May the Almighty God bless you abundantly.

With Gratitude and Prayer,

Fr. Daniel Ochom
