CYLA Award Winners
On Sunday, February 8, 2009, The winners of the Catholic Youth Leadership Award was presented at mass. The CYLA award is a statewide award program for seniors in high school. with three ( 3 ) competitions in one. They first must be catholic, we look at their excellence in education, their goals for the future, their athletic accomplishments, social activities, but most of all, their service to the community. There is a local or council competition, an area competition, and an overall boy and girl winner that represents the state of Louisiana. There is a committee that reviews the applications received at each level and determines a boy and girl winner. At the area level, they will be eligible to win $500 and the overall boy and girl winner for the state will each receive a check for $5000. The winners of this award was Brittany Gorden and Christopher Keys. They each received a plaque and a check for $100.
